Score! A Little Boy’s Quilt and More

You can score big with Villa Rosa Designs’ Gypsy Rose pattern! The large squares and rectangles make the perfect playing field for custom quilting. I chose Zen Chic’s Frisky fabric line that’s full of color and energy. As you can see, the quilt is a nice size for a growing child or even an adult lap quilt. I added a 2.5-inch border, so the quilt measures 42 inches wide and 51 inches long.

Angie at Taylored Quilting created a custom design that reflects my 6-year-old nephew’s love for sports: soccer, football, baseball, and basketball. Here’s a close-up shot of the center of this all-star quilt. Notice that Angie’s longarm machine can also do embroidery, which is why the star shines so brightly.

The rectangles carry out the sports motif within a hexagon design.

And here’s a flat lay of the entire Score quilt.

I backed and bound the quilt with navy Cuddle cloth. The quilting looks lovely on the plush side too. The design is loose enough that the quilt remains soft and snuggly.

I had enough fabric to make a coordinating pillow, and Angie quilted and embroidered it. I’d say she knocked the ball out of the park! If you’re looking for a longarm quilter to unleash your ideas, contact Taylored Quilting.

Wouldn’t you want to snuggle into this sweet spot?

When my husband saw me assembling Caleb’s quilt, he remarked that the colors are similar to a log cabin quilt his mom made. What do you think?

Villa Rosa Designs Fast and More Fun Blog Hop

I hope my nephew’s Score quilt shows you that a simple pattern can become a special quilt! I think that’s what Pat Fryer intended when she created her company, Villa Rosa Designs.

During the Villa Rosa Designs Blog Hop, 28 bloggers took a simple pattern and made it their own to inspire you. These are the five featured Rose Card designs. Pat Fryer, nicknamed the Rose Queen, always names her designs for roses and features a photo of that rose on her patterns. That’s how her postcard-sized patterns became known as Rose Cards. You can purchase the set of cards from Villa Rosa Designs.

*Drawing Is Closed* What About Prizes?

(Update March 25: I drew names and submitted them to VRD for prizes. Thank you for commenting on my blog!)

Besides the opportunity to win the VRD pattern set, you could win a pattern, book, notion, or fabric from one of our generous sponsors listed below. I’ll randomly select four names, and Villa Rosa Designs will mail prizes to the winners. (International readers are qualified to win digital prizes.) In addition, I’ll select three more names to add to the grand prize drawing by VRD.

Wait, There’s More Fun!

I’ve been reading all the blogs for the Fast and More Fun hop (start here), and Wendy at Pieceful Thoughts inspired me to make a Clover table runner. That’s right, I stitched it together over the weekend!

I used Janet Clare’s The Wordsmith fabric for Moda Fabrics and Supplies. Note how the beautiful fabric catches your eye in this simple design. I think an entire table runner is difficult to photograph, so here are a few more shots.

I stitched randomly spaced straight lines with Auriful 80-weight thread.

The soft colors look great with this pop of lemon.

I hope you feel inspired to make something beautiful. The Villa Rosa Designs patterns make it easy!

Remember to leave a comment and you might score a prize! And find more inspiration from today’s bloggers. The drawing closes on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

Joyfully,

Tracie
