One Monthly Goal: Cowboy Quilt and a Surprise
I feel a bit like Cinderella watching the clock at the ball as I post my April update before the stroke of midnight. My goal for April was to complete the construction of five Barn Style blocks for my cowboy quilt. I did it, and here is the complete set of nine blocks!
Each block finishes at 20″ square, so the photo doesn’t provide a sense of scale. The finished quilt will be 68″ square and will serve as a couch quilt at our cabin (near the farm where I grew up). I’m excited to finally see this fabric collection take shape after years of storage and at least one move.
The blocks are on my design wall, waiting for some rearranging on another day. (I hung a Fons and Porter Design Wall using 3M Command Hooks last month, and I love storing my completed blocks on the wall instead of the floor! It was a quick and inexpensive solution.)
May One Monthly Goal
I took a peek at my May calendar and quickly noted that it’s a fun-filled month with family gatherings planned every weekend, including two graduation ceremonies. At the end of May, my dear daughter will fly home for a visit, and we’ll officially kick off summer together on Memorial Day.
Do you have lots of activities during May, too? Will you spend some precious time unwinding at your craft space? Even though the month looks busy, a little quilting time will keep the crazy away. So I plan to make a secret little project for my daughter and reveal it at the end of the month. Here’s a sneak peek at the fabric I’ll try to incorporate: Timeless Treasures Cops ‘N Robbers collection. I’m not sure if it’ll be a mini quilt, pillow, or pouch. Stay tuned!
Joyfully,
Tracie
P.S. I’m linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts for her One Monthly Goal April Finish and One Monthly Goal May Goal Setting. Be sure to check out Patty’s blog and sign up for her newsletter. It’s very enjoyable!
