Brightly: A Colorful Country Quilt

On a cloudy, misty Sunday afternoon, I finished stitching my country-fresh version of Brightly by Cluck Cluck Sew.

During August I’m on a mission to complete quilts that I’ve had tucked away in a bedroom closet. This quilt top languished because I kept debating whether I should quilt it myself or bring it to a long-arm quilter. Thanks to the encouragement of my husband, I brought four quilts to two long-arm quilters! So I hope to share several more finished quilts soon.

Here are a few details about my quilt.

  • The pattern is Brightly by Cluck Cluck Sew.
  • Fabric is an Ella and Ollie layer cake by Fig Tree & Co. for Moda.
  • Background fabric is Indigo Chambray by Moda.
  • The quilting panto is Retro Graphics #2 by Urban Elementz.

The colors remind me of fresh garden produce: strawberries, yellow squash, cantaloupe, honeydew, and peapods. As a matter of fact, my backing fabric is likely the reason why I think of garden produce. It’s Strawberry Jam by Corey Yoder — one of my all-time favorite prints! That sunny yellow has my heart.

Here are a few more close-up photos so you can see the quilting and pretty fabrics.

I love how the chambray background adds texture and makes the colors pop.

I used the text prints from Fig Tree & Co. in the center of the stars because it’s so fun to read them.

My Brightly quilt looks right at home on our farm. I’m happy to have it ready for our little guest room in time for our daughter’s visit next month.

Wally is still happy to be part of the photo shoots! I’ll share a little video on Instagram.

I hope you’re also enjoying creative time during the Dog Days of Summer!

Joyfully,
