Slow Sunday: Take Time to Reflect and Plan
During the past week, I ignored my housekeeping tasks to meet my goal of piecing the Brightly quilt by Cluck Cluck Sew. The collection of dust bunnies was worth it! I enjoyed stitching the bright pieces of cotton fabric together into a starry path across a chambray sky. It has just the right farmhouse vibe for me: farmwife aprons and farmer shirts.
Reflections: My Brightly Quilt
I usually make fun plans for January so I can look forward to its cold, dark days. Serendipitously, JK Quilts announced their Brightly quilt along, hoping people would dig into their fabric stash and sew this fun, easy quilt. As an added incentive, JK Quilts will randomly select one participant’s quilt for free longarm quilt services! I’m thrilled with my flimsy quilt top and look forward to snuggling up with it on a couch.
Slow Sunday: Baking Oatmeal Muffins
After spending so much time sewing last week, I was ready for a slow Sunday. We joined our church family online (a terrific series entitled The Art of Adulting), ate Sunday dinner at a local restaurant, and went on the proverbial Sunday drive in the country. When we arrived home, my kitchen was calling me: It’s time to bake!
On Saturday morning Sherri McConnell, Moda fabric designer and blogger at A Quilting Life, shared a link for Healthy Applesauce Oat Muffins. The cool thing about the recipe is that people have experimented with the original recipe and found it foolproof. After reading the comments, I decided to swap bananas for the applesauce, skip the coconut oil, and use just a drizzle of honey. Yum, they turned out so tasty!
Once the dishwasher was humming, I sat down with a muffin, a mug of Hot Cinnamon Sunset tea, and the Bella Grace magazine. Ah, exhale. Slow. Down.
Friend, I hope you take time to slow down and feed your spirit before launching into a new week.
Plans: Postcard from Sweden Quilt Along
As I mentioned in my last post about keeping a cozy home, I’m settling into a regular homemaking routine. Since I neglected much of those duties last week in favor or sewing time, I plan to step back into my routine. Also, I’ll starch all my fabric for the Postcard from Sweden quilt along and begin cutting per Sandra’s guide. If you’re interested in learning more about this quilt, click the link to Sandra’s blog. She shared some great photos and inspiration from the last time she organized this quilt along. The schedule is relaxed, perfect for a late winter project.
I hope you pursue good things that fill you up!
Joyfully,
Tracie
