Throwback Thursday: S’mores Quilt

Several years ago I was wandering through a local quilt shop and found Me and My Sister’s S’mores fabric collection in the sale section. It was love at first sight! The bright, clear colors and cute marshmallow people were irresistible. I bought several charm packs, a jelly roll, and yardage. (I think these were the first precuts I bought.) Since there was minimal cutting, I pieced the quilt quickly.

This project was very impulsive, all for fun. But what would I do with it? Thankfully God nudged me to give it to my niece. I think she feels the love and joy wrapped up in this quilt.

My mom offered to find someone to do the longarm quilting. Unfortunately, I don’t know who it was, or I would give her credit for the beautiful stitching. After years of use and washing, the quilt still looks beautiful. Aren’t these sweet S’mores snowmen delightful? It looks like they’re riding on sleds of graham crackers and chocolate.

This S’mores quilt is an oldie but goodie. I encourage you to take a look at a few more “Throwback Thursday” quilts at Sandra’s linkup at mmm! quilts. I love her Raffi quilt!

By the way, my niece, Miss A, is sewing along with the Fat Quarter Shop’s Ultimate Beginner Quilt. If you want to teach a child to sew, I have a few tips to share here.

Joyfully,

Tracie
