Progress: It Feels So Good!

Even though I’m retired, I set goals to stay focused on what matters. This year I want to have more fun. How am I doing?

  • On Fridays, we’ve been hosting nieces and nephews for several hours. Often we bake cookies and play games, such as Exploding Kittens, Life, Candy Land, or Monopoly. Our 11-year-old nephew is witty and keeps us rolling with belly laughs.
  • I finished my Stars and Stripes quilt with crosshatch quilting, tiny polka dot backing, and striped binding. I was going to put the quilt on a guest bed, but my husband likes it for his spring couch quilt. Win!
  • I joined the Scrappy Celebration quilt-along that was part of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine’s 30th-anniversary celebration. I managed to use up a lot of my favorite fabric pieces and finished on schedule. The bright colors in the quilt made gray days feel cheerful!
  • Being generous is another one of my goals, and I have a Hope quilt top ready to donate to the Hands 2 Help quilt drive. If you’d like to donate a quilt top or finished quilt, visit Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

Goals and Intentions: Real Life Is Messy

Fun is my goal because it doesn’t happen automatically. Entropy keeps life complicated, right? Our new basement flooring had to be replaced due to some mysterious defect. So, we had to move out all of the furniture, and I set up a temporary sewing spot in our little corner bedroom. (Everything else was shoved into our garage.) Once the floor was replaced, I decided to paint the walls to freshen them up.

Painting is not fun. But a clean, organized space is marvelous! Soon I’ll be ready to start a new project.

Are you having fun or dealing with a messy part of life? So much depends on how we choose to respond to our circumstances. If you’re dealing with gray skies and snow or rain (literally or figuratively), I hope you see God’s rainbow after the storm.

Joyfully,

Tracie
