Goose Down Quilt: Creating Comfort & Joy for My Home

I’m excited to share my Goose Down quilt because the happy colors bring me so much joy!

I shared details about this quilt top on my blog a few years ago when I finished piecing the top. Yikes, time flies by! At last, it’s quilted, bound, and ready for cozy comfort. It looks so nice with my rocking chair on our back deck.

Also, take a look at my upcycled table. I wish I had a before photo because this table was covered in chipped, peeling unappealing beige paint and a warped wood top. My husband stripped the base and painted it black. Then he replaced the top with live-edge oak from a local sawmill and added a stone knob, which was a rock with a hole found on our property.

Big-stitch binding is a recent finishing trend, so I gave it a try. I used perle cotton and big stitch needles from Primitive Gatherings. The needles are very nice! The perle cotton never frayed as I tugged the thread through the fabric.

I tried to stitch an X in each corner and need to work on balancing the decorative stitches.

Nancy Groeschner quilted delicate flowering vine pantograph that adds such beautiful texture.

The fabrics are all designed by Lella Boutique for Moda. the floral backing and aqua border are from the Lollipop Garden line. The dark teal block and the background fabric are from the Nest line. There’s also a bit of Farmer’s Daughter and Little Tree.

Truly the Easter egg colors of this quilt make me smile, and a finished quilt is worth celebrating!

Joyfully,
