Finishing the Jolly Bar Row Along Quilt!

Welcome to the Fat Quarter Shop’s Jolly Bar Row Along week 7 when we finish the quilt top! To make this quilt we’re using the new Jolly Bar Book Vol. 2 from the Fat Quarter Shop and piecing instructions found at the Jolly Jabber blog. In case you missed it, you’ll find all the information to start your quilt at the Jolly Jabber kick-off post. The instructions will always be available on the Jolly Jabber, so you can begin (and finish) your quilt anytime!

Here’s my completed quilt top made with Fig Tree & Co. Catalina fabric line. Do you have a favorite row? I don’t think I can choose a favorite. However, those Sparrow Tracks blocks are pretty cute on the top and bottom of the quilt. I really like how the two rows create a sense of balance.

Yesterday I started quilting the top with a 60-degree crosshatch and I’m almost done. Since I’m at my cabin rather than home, I’m using my Janome rather than my larger Juki sewing machine. This throw-sized quilt is definitely easy to work with on a domestic sewing machine, so you can definitely complete this quilt all on your own!

I pulled a Dick and Jane print from stash for the quilt backing. The colors and light-hearted feel compliment the quilt top. The green microdot binding is from the Catalina fabric line.

Today I’ll finish quilting and binding the quilt, and I’ll be all set for a cool evening or morning by our fire pit. Do you snuggle with a quilt outside? Of course, you can always take a quilt along on a picnic. Since many of us are spending more time socializing outdoors, take a quilt, and make the event feel special.

P.S. These are the sampler blocks in the quilt: Sparrow Tracks, Spinning Spools, Migration, Crushing on You, Due North, and Blissful Kisses.
