Slice and Swap: New Charm Pack Crispies!

I love collecting charm packs – those 5-inch-square collections from Moda Fabrics. So I’m always looking for new patterns to use my stash. Ta-da! Here’s a new shortcut quilt pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop: Charm Pack Crispies. Get the free pattern here and look at the sweet kit featuring Buttercup and Slate (affiliate links). My quilt showcases my favorite summer colors: aqua, green, and pink.

To make this quilt, you will assemble a block, slice it, and spin a few pieces around. Like magic, you stitch a complex-looking block together quite simply.

Tip: Remember to spin after slicing! I can’t tell you how many blocks I sliced and then sewed back together without spinning out the new design. There isn’t such a thing as mindless sewing.

This crib-size quilt might end up in my window seat or on the wall in my sewing room. The colors complement the Sherwin Williams “Window Pane” paint. Do you see the sweet sea creatures and mermaids in The Sea and Me fabrics by Stacy Iest Hsu?

This quilt is already puppy-approved!

Wally was willing to make his quilt modeling debut. I machine-quilted the piece following the primary lines of the quilt block. To finish the quilt, I folded the excess backing to the front for a quick binding.

The backing is also from The Sea and Me fabric collection.
