Monkey Business: Sew Solids Blog Remix
This Monkey Business mini quilt will add some solid fun to a baby’s nursery or go-bag. I used a mix of Moda Bella Solids and Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids to bring this monkey to life. The finished quilt measures 21.5-inches by 26.5-inches, and it’s a free pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop. Be sure to check out the Jolly Jabber blog and tutorial for some helpful tips.
This quilt came together quickly. I cut out all the pieces one evening, assembled the quilt top the next evening, and finished it up the next day with simple crosshatch quilting and a machine-stitched binding. My most important tip is to use Alphabitties or Post-It Notes to stay organized. There are a lot of small pieces! I also like to label my Bella Solids with a marker; the AGF Pure Solids are labeled in the selvage.
I had a few fun prints in my fabric stash for the backing and binding. I like using fun prints like these on the back of a baby quilt.
This mini quilt would make a great gift. Wrap it up with a copy of Curious George or a few fun board books. (I’m a fan of Sandra Boynton’s books, especially Barnyard Dance.)

Joyfully,
