Midnight in the Garden: New Kitchen Accessories

During February I sewed an apron and potholders for my kitchen with the Midnight in the Garden fabric collection. In spite of the cold winter weather, I’m anticipating sunny days and spring flowers. These apples, bees, and bunnies are whispering a welcome to springtime!

Farmhouse Kitchen Apron

When I saw this apple fabric on Instagram, I knew it would be perfect for an apron! The pattern is free from Moda: Unruly Nature Apron. The instructions were easy to follow and made good use of the fabric. In fact, I have only a small piece left over. Since I used quilter’s cotton rather than canvas, I lined my apron with a solid white fabric.

Do you wear aprons while you cook and bake? I’m a messy baker, so I usually do. A few years ago I made myself a Christmas apron and I’ve been wearing it year-round.

Midnight in the Garden Potholders

My kitchen has a lot of black and white, so these potholders will look great when I’m pulling out a hot pie from the oven. The reverse side is the black bee print, which you can see in the first photo.

I used Insul-Bright insulated lining (affiliate link) and Warm and Natural cotton batting, so the potholders will definitely protect my hands from heat. I didn’t use a pattern; however, there is a free tutorial here.

The Weathervane Block

I also stitched a 12-inch weathervane quilt block with this fabric line. I love it but I don’t have a plan for it. Do you have a suggestion?

Spring is still months away. Are you eagerly waiting for it too? Or are enjoying all the cozy flannels and wools?
