Hands2Help: Sending Hope to Canada

I am sending my Hope quilt top to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in Ontario. There, someone will complete the quilt and distribute it as part of their outreach to refugees. Gudrun Erla of GE Designs hosted a Hope quilt along on May 3, 2020, and it was a welcome break from the chaos of 2020. All along I intended to donate the quilt to pass along hope to someone in need. When Sarah coordinated the annual Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge, I knew MCC was the right place to receive it.

In order to make the quilt large enough for MCC, I added a border to the Hope quilt. Originally, the Hope quilt called for one layer cake of fabric, and I used Hazel and Plum by Fig Tree & Co. Thankfully, I had plenty of Hazel and Plum yardage so the border matches perfectly.

My husband is working on our landscape, so I had to get creative while photographing the quilt. My new harvest table worked so well! I also took a photo with the quilt draped over the couch so you can see the quilt from a different angle.

Hazel and Plum has a unique variety of colors: soft yellow, plum, aqua, grass green, red, and taupe.

Hands2Help Wrap Up

If you would like to see all the donated quilts this year, visit Confessions of a Fabric Addict. Sarah does such a great job coordinating this annual event. Giving quilts brings me joy, and sends a message of hope and care to another person.

I’m thankful that quilters can come together and make a small difference in a positive way. As Mother Theresa said, “Small things done with great love will change the world.”

Let’s be world changers for God’s good purposes!

Joyfully,

Tracie
