I Needed the Hope Quilt Along
On May 3 Gudrun Erla of GE Designs hosted the Hope quarantine quilt along. Since I had all the required fabrics in my stash and a free weekend, I took the plunge — and the “water” was wonderful!
Hope Quarantine Quilt Along 2 Event
Not only did Gudrun offer her pattern for a $2-$10 donation to support non-profits in my area, but she also planned a fun-filled event for thousands of quilters to enjoy as they stitched the Hope quilt. I especially loved the Spotify playlist with upbeat music, interviews with various quilters, and step-by-step pattern demos. These are all available on Gudrun’s website.
I used Fig Tree and Co. fabrics from my stash: a Hazel and Plum layer cake (10″ squares), several fat quarters from various older Fig Tree fabric lines, and two yards of Fig Tree Cream.
There are many cool layout options for the quilt and several sizes. The lap quilt measures 57 x 76 inches. Since the quilt looks so different depending on fabric choices and layouts, I plan to make another one. It really was a fun, quick quilt top to make — perfect for a gift.
Chester can’t resist a quilt in progress.
A Wonderful Gift: Surprise!
Do you enter giveaways from bloggers and never expect to win? That’s how I feel, but I do it anyway. Then a few weeks ago Taunja from Carried Away Quilting sent me a message: I won a fat quarter bundle of Bloomington from Lou Lou’s Fabric Shop. Woohoo!
I’ve never splurged on a fat quarter bundle before. Ever. I really wanted this fabric to make a quilt for my bedroom, so I’m over the moon. (My husband thought I was pretty funny.) When all the days feel the same, a package in the mail feels pretty special. Thank you, Jamie and Taunja, for making quarantine at home more fun.
Coming Soon: The Jolly Bar Row Along
In a few weeks, I’ll be participating in the Fat Quarter Shop’s Jolly Bar Row Along. I hope you’ll join in because it will be a fun project for the summer.
Joyfully,
Tracie
P.S. I’m linking up with Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict where you can check out other quilters who are celebrating a finish or something cool at Whoop Whoop Friday.
