Block 4: Half Square Triangle Four Patch

Welcome to the Ultimate Beginner Quilt sew along! Today Kimberly’s going to show us how to make Block 4 Half Square Triangle Four Patch. You can download the free pattern and receive a free video tutorial at the Fat Quarter Shop blog. For my quilt, I’m using a combination of Day in Paris fabrics by Zen Chic and Moda Grunge. This particular block contains only Grunge fabrics.

Pattern Pointers

Did you notice that my colors are similar to those used in the Ultimate Beginner Quilt kit? However, arranged my blocks differently to achieve a better contrast between the colors. So, before you stitch the four half-square triangle units together, play around with the layout. You might discover you prefer a different look.
